Background: Visionaries from our community realized the importance of education some 80 to 100 Years ago. Along with temples and sthanaks they also built schools and libraries. Not stopping there, they provided books, founded boarding schools for boys and girls alike. They worked hard to start loan and scholarship programs for needy students. During this journey of 100 years we have turned from a hard working farming community to a chorus of hard working grain, steel and cloth merchants, professionals and significant proportion of ordinary working people.

We are proud of our forefathers who started this slow but continuous journey and feel obligated to keep it going. Over the last 80 years Matunga Boarding has provided education to some 8000 needy students of our community. There are 250 students of needy families receiving their school education each year. A new building provides a near ideal situation for growth of children. From USA our community has raised  $180,000 towards cost of new construction project. We are still short of $120,000

Construction of new phase of six floors, 60000 sq, feet has been completed at a cost of Rs. 5 crore. We need Rs. 5 crore more to complete second phase of 60000 sq. feet new English medium school, which has already started last year.

We urge you all to be part of this joint venture. If our fathers did it with lesser wealth I am sure we can do it too. There is a list of received donations from USA in the supplement. Please support us generously and address your checks to KOJAIN with a memo reading Matunga Boarding, and Mail it to KOJAIN Treasurer: Harak Gala 727 Thornwood Dr., Odenton, MD 21113. Your contributions are tax deductible. If you have any questions please contact any of us by phone or e-mail.
